Nordic Junior Athletics Championships U20

Dear athletic friends.
The Icelandic Athletic Federation is pleased to have the opportunity to host the Nordic Junior Athletics Championships and to welcome the best Nordic U20 male and female athletes and team leaders. The competition will take place on August 13th and 14th 2016 at Kaplakriki which is located in Hafnarfjörður, only 10 km from the city center of Reykjavík. All visiting team members will arrive at Keflavík airport which is located about 50 km from Reykjavík.

The competition venue
The competition venue is Kaplakriki, which has hosted the Icelandic National Championship and other major national competitions over the years. The outdoor track has 6 lane, 400 m Politian track with 2 long jump pits, high jump and pole vault area, all with Politian surface. The throwing field for discus throw and hammer throw is located next to the track and is one of the best throwing fields in Iceland.
Warm up area (grass field) is next to the competition area.
Kaplakriki also has an indoor track facility which was opened in May 2014. The indoor track has a 4 lane 200 m/8 lane 60 m Mondo track and a top of the line shot put ring, a long jump pit, 2 high jump pits and a pole Vault pit and will be open for warm-up during the competition, if needed. Also located within the indoor track facility is a throwing ring which can be used for warm up for discus throw and hammer throw.
A fully equipped weight lifting room is also located in Kaplakriki.
